- - - - - GREETINGS, EARTHLING - - - - -

A long time ago, there was a legend of a planet called Mist.

Rumoured to be filled with towering waterfalls,
endless spray,
cool air drifting forever.

On my home planet, this was a very big deal.
We love waterfalls.
For obvious, moisture-related reasons.

So when a famous explorer named Kool announced
they were setting off to find Mist,
there was a massive send-off.

Parades.
Speeches.
Souvenirs already being designed.

Four years later,
we finally heard back from Kool.

They had found it.

Only…
it wasn’t exactly waterfalls.

It was more of a swamp planet.

Wet, yes.
Misty, technically.
But not the dramatic cascade-filled paradise
everyone had imagined.

Still, Kool did what explorers do.
They made do.

They built a landing platform.
Then a small vacation outpost.
Then another.

Over time, things expanded.

Pools instead of waterfalls.
Fishing instead of cliff views.
Swamp tours.
Casinos.
Energy spas.
Hotels as far as the eye could see.

It became wildly popular.

Planet Mist quickly rose
to become our number one tourist destination.

That was thirty years ago.

A few years back,
another explorer found something interesting.

One galaxy over,
there it was.

The real Planet Mist.

Actual waterfalls.
Spectacular.
And lots of very un-swamp-like mist.

Everything the original stories promised.

Turns out Kool
had taken a wrong turn decades earlier.

So now, we have two destinations.

Planet Swamp Mist.
And Planet Waterfall Mist.

And wouldn’t you know it?

Planet Swamp Mist
is still the most popular.

People had built memories there.
Traditions.
Stories.
Entire lives.

Turns out,
sometimes it’s not about finding
the place you imagined.

It’s about what grows
where you land.
