Transmission 121: Rona and the moon

Pause when emotions rise.

Continuing our theme of learning from other cultures:
today’s story comes from Aotearoa (aka New Zealand).

- - - - - RONA AND THE MOON - - - - -

In a story told by the Māori of Aotearoa,
a woman named Rona once walked alone under moonlight.

She carried a water gourd, heading to the spring.
The light was bright. The path was clear.

Then a cloud passed.

She tripped, cursed the moon,
and in response, the moon reached down
and pulled her into the sky.

If you look closely, they say,
you can still see her silhouette on the moon’s face.
Rona. The water gourd. The tree she clung to.
Still held in the sky for what she said in a single moment.

Your words have weight.
Especially when charged with feeling.

Even a single sentence can echo.
Change a relationship.
Change a course.

Today, speak slowly.
Pause when emotions rise.
Breathe. Then speak.

Not every cloud is worth a curse.

How Bizarre by OMC.

For Tunesday, we stay in Aotearoa.
For a song that flowed across oceans.

A song about a road trip.
About one weird thing after another.
About going with the flow.

That’s the lesson.
Not everything needs to be understood in real time.
Not every path needs a map.
Sometimes life just is
bizarre,
beautiful,
and oddly brilliant.

You don’t always need to drive.
You can just ride.

Greetings, Earthling is a free daily newsletter designed to help you slow down, feel better, and start your mornings with a sense of meaning. Written from the perspective of a curious space observer named NeilA, each transmission blends mindfulness, motivation, and emotional insight with a hint of cosmic wonder.

Inspired by Stoic philosophy, Tao, Alan Watts, behavioural science, and the strange beauty of being human, these messages offer gentle reminders to live with purpose, pay attention, and appreciate the little things. Part alien wisdom, part self-help, part poetic dispatch, it’s a daily pick-me-up disguised as a transmission from the stars.

If you’re looking for a mindful routine, a feel-good newsletter, or thoughtful guidance that fits in your inbox, you’re in the right place. This is for anyone who wants to be more present, more kind, and more connected to yourself, to others, and to the universe around you.

If this helped, pass it along. Or send them here. Signals get stronger when more receivers are tuned in.

Thank you for reading. Your presence means more than you know.
